| Here you see the topsoil that has been piled along the edge of the once ditch. The sand subsoil was used to finish raising the levee that parlleles Chase Street, it was also used to fill in the drainage ditch cut around that little 2 acres savanna located in the southwest corner of the site. Remember the drainage channel along the edge of Chase Street drains storm runoff from Gary city streets into the Little Calumet River. The new source of water for this soon to be spring feed creek is meant to kept the site fed with clean water. Overall it works well. | |
