In the fall of 2006 Renewable was awarded the Chattahoochee Storm Repair Contract with the National Park Service out of Atlanta GA. The Chattahoochee River National Recreational area is composted of 15 separate parks scattered along the Chattahoochee from Bowmans Island located at the base of Buford Dam which created Lake Lanier to Paces Mill at the southern end located on the south side of I-75 where Paces Mill Road intersects Cobb Parkway. This series of parks dotted along the Chattahoochee River from Sandy Springs to Alpharetta to Sugar Hill is a true jewel of Federal Parks creating green zones of protected public lands in some of the most densely populated sections of Georgia.
In 2004 Hurricane Ivan, a Category 5 storm, brought torrential rains to the park and washed out many of the hiking trails, rutted parking lots, plugged culverts, and downed many old trees throughout the various parks. Our contract was to restore the damage caused by the hurricane and perform various up grades to amenities within the park that allow for safe and pleasurable use by the general public.
